Apple Picking Field Trip

 We had a fantastic day at Wallingford's Orchard.  Everyone enjoyed apple picking, feeding the goats, and playing in the play area.  When we got back to school we had yummy donuts and cider.  Fall is so much fun!

Week of September 8

Last week our class started doing Literacy and Math Stations.  This is a time when boys and girls work in small groups to practice what we are learning.  Right now I am going from station to station helping the students.  By mid-October students should be independent enough to work without my hep and I will start having a group learning to read at my table.

Kindergarten Community Meeting

Every month the all of the Kindergarten students meet in the cafeteria for a special Kindergarten Community Meeting.  On Friday we met for the first time.  We started by learning the Three B's Song.  This song teaches us to Be Safe, Respectful, and Responsible. We practiced singing and then colored a picture of a Bee to remind us of our school rules.  Boys and girls also sang to the boys and girls celebrating birthdays during the month of September.

Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom Week!

To kick off our Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom ABC week we made CCBB trees.  Boys and girls spread peanut butter "glue" on a celery stick.  Then they added m & m's for coconuts and Alpha-bits cereal.  Yum!  What a fun way to learn our ABC's!

Library

Today our class went to the Library for the first time.  Boys and girls selected a book to check out.  Books are due back next Thursday so that students can select a new one.  Only one book can be signed out at a time.
After checking out our books, Mrs. Hill, the Library Ed Tech, read our class two stories.

Music and Gym

Today was our first day going to Music and Gym.  Kindergarten students go to Music and Gym twice a week for 20 minutes in each classroom.    Here's some of the fun that boys and girls had today!

Please remember to have your child wear sneakers to school on Wednesday and Friday when we have Gym Class.

Art Class

Today was our first day going to a special.  We went to Art with Mrs. Johnson.   The class sang the ABC's and focused on the beginning letter in their name.   They are also learning their friend's names.  Remember that we have Art every Tuesday!  It's so much fun being creative!
