A Feast for Thanksgiving!

Today the Kindergarten had a yummy Thanksgiving Feast!  First Mr. Sincerbeaux read us the book, Turkey Trouble.  The turkey is so smart he disguises himself to escape being eaten!!  Then Miss Vannah's class taught us a cute song about a turkey named Ted.  Mr. Cram even visited us in his funny turkey costume!  Best of all we shared popcorn, apple sauce, pumpkin pie, and cornbread muffins!    Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!

Guided Reading

Kindergarten is all about learning to READ!  Every day during Literacy Station time small groups meet with me at the teacher table.  We start with word work...practicing words that we are learning and words that are in our book.  Then it's time to do a picture walk so that we know what the story is about.  Next it's time to READ!!  After boys and girls have read the book twice, we discuss the story.  We retell and answer questions about the text.  Finally, it's time to write a response to our reading.  All this hard work at the teacher table leads to some Fantastic Readers!!

Disguising Tom Turkey!

Boys and girls were given the task of disguising a turkey with the hopes that the turkey wouldn't become Thanksgiving Dinner!  Students and their families did an amazing job!!  In school everyone shared their turkeys and we read the book Turkey Trouble.  In this book a clever turkey disguises himself as a cow, horse, and pig!

Pumpkins... are, need, have

This week we learned about pumpkins and wrote informational books.  Each day we focused on taking notes on a T-chart.  Then students would use those notes to write in their pumpkin books.  The class did a fantastic job!   On Friday students did a writing prompt....which means they needed to write without my help.  We are becoming great authors!

Pumpkins are big, fat and bumpy.

Pumpkins are orange and they are fruit.

50th Day of School

Friday, November 8 was our 50th Day of School!  Many teachers dressed in 50's attire.  In our classroom we listened to 50's music and watched dances from the 50's.  We also had bubble gum and root beer floats!  What a yummy day!

Our Root Beer floats were yummy!

We surveyed the class...Did you like your float?

12 liked the float, 2 did not
