Tiger Pride

Students and Staff at Rowe can earn Tiger Paw Prints for following school expectations in the common areas of the school.  Walking nicely in the hall, picking up trash, being kind to a friend....the list goes on and on...Basically being SAFE, RESPECTFUL, and RESPONSIBLE!  Every Friday one paw from each grade level is drawn out.  Staff get to park in a special reserved spot for the week and the students get a special Tiger Pride Tee Shirt.

This week the pre-K to grade one winner was from our classroom!  Congratulations, Lukas!!

We are Special

This past week we read the book "Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon."  The moral of the story is that everyone is special in their own way.  For our Creative Station this week boys and girls cut out flowers, added their picture to the center, and then told me why they are SPECIAL!  It is so fun to read all of their ideas!

Puzzles

One of our Math Stations is doing different puzzles.  Research shows that puzzles are educational, especially in the area of mathematics, and they offer developmental support for both children and adults. When any child or adult works with puzzles, the right brain and left-brain are both engaged, which is when our brains are most active.  Doing puzzles at home is a great way to work and play together without using electronics!

Great job completing this puzzle!

Reading Workshop

Today we started our reading workshop.  We start this time with a mini lesson to learn a reading skill.  Right now we are learning how to care for books and enjoy them.  After the mini lesson, readers go off to quietly "read" books.  Over the course of the year, we will build stamina in reading.  Today boys and girls sat for five minutes.

Go Noodle

Taking a Brain Break in between our Writing Workshop and Math helps our students get some energy out, refocus during Math, and it is FUN.

Brain Breaks are short, energizing bursts of activity that boost blood flow, send oxygen to the brain, and help kids better retain information. It can be as simple as taking five minutes to stand up, stretch, and run in place next to the desk. But in our class our favorite Brain Break is....Go Noodle
